Avon goes green
Avon was incorporated society for women, 125 years ago and is still ongoing fort today. In fact, they celebrate their 125th anniversary this year. They sell in more than 100 countries. Most of their brand is recognized around the world. They have more than 40,000 associates and $ 6.2 million independent sales representatives around the world. Their main objective is to improve the lives of women in meeting the daily needs of women. They produce and provide cosmetic, personal care products and modes of women for customers on the world market. They also play a leadership role in the fight against cancer of the breast and domestic violence.
They are currently expanding their support to reduce the environmental impact of business on the world. Their goal is to reduce the consumption of energy, water, waste, recycling and use of paper in the production of their products. They are considering buying a GreenPalm certificate, which is a certified Exchange program is sponsored by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm oil or (CPSR), to help to increase demand for sustainable palm oil and maintain the supply of this Palm oil. This concern is because people use eighty per cent of the available oil in food and the essential ingredients in cosmetics and cosmetics such as palm oil derivatives. Avon has also recently joined with CPSR to work together to produce GreenPalm certificates. Avon does not directly use Palm oil. They buy less than 200,000 pounds as ingredients in the products. They are planning to work on the reduction of that amount and will begin to provide certificates in July. Avon recently made their announcement of this commitment as, promise of palm oil. Avon is the first major cosmetics company that backs this commitment. This effort to protect the biodiversity and habitats of endangered species. Avon has created the program Hello green tomorrow to raise awareness against the deforestation of the Atlantic rainforest and support the World Wildlife Fund for the restoration in Indonesia by collecting funds and the educational programs. The Atlantic forest is in South America and the forest used to cover the on one million square kilometres of land, but now it covers less than 5% of its original area. The Indonesia forest area lost approximately 72% of its original area. Since the end of the 1990s, the Indonesia has an estimated loss of about 2 million acres of deforestation per year. Avon has collected approximately 2 million for this cause and has helped to restore approximately 5,000 hectares of tropical forest, together with the Nature Conservancy and World Wildlife Fund.
Avon began fundraising to support this cause by selling aluminum “Hello green tomorrow” on April 15 and United States water bottles. Each bottle is made of recyclable aluminum that holds one litre of water with “Hello green tomorrow” logos on them. These bottles are $8.00, with each selling half of the proceeds will go to support this effort. Since most people see the value of going “green”, Avon would be an excellent choice for women in support of major environmental concerns. When purchases of marked objects are made women can be provided to support important causes. Avon is a company large since their constant concern is only to make the world a better place.
