Let's
try something a tad bit different, then...

* Lina clears
her throat.
She winces a bit as the small sound echoes in the room,
and looks around nervously before beginning. Wisps of
short lavender hair brush back and forth across her small
face, and she clutches a thin flute tightly in one little
hand.
"Ahem. Yes. Well, I've looked around quite a bit in
this forum, and found that whilst these Board RPGs look
quite interesting, I can't quite bring myself to join
either one."
Lina's clear, piping voice floats through the empty area,
accentuating her next point.
"You see, the "Original OGS" seems to right
now call for someone with a deep voice, and I'm afraid I
can't quite manage that, no matter how I try."
"I would gladly, then, assume the persona of Relm (or
perhaps Little Elle, or even Marlene) for
"1/14/03," were it not for the simple fact that
I haven't yet played FF9
and therefore feel as if I am missing a necessary part of
the background."
Scuffing one soft-shoed foot on the floor, Lina takes
another deep breath and gets to the point.
"I therefore propose the forming of one more ongoing
Board RPG, one with a slightly different format, and
somewhat less structured setting, than either of the first
two. As you can see, this post is comprised of my speech,
in quotes, and my actions, in red. This's a bit different
from straight narrative or third-person limited, I know,
but I'd like to give it a try. What's more, I thought it
might be interesting if we each took a good long look at
our avatars,"
* Lina starts to smile, shyly,
"and thought about what kind of characters they
represent to the people reading our posts. I'm sure that
everyone has a purpose, and there'll prolly be a quest or
two if we can get things rolling!"
* Lina is really beaming now,
thinking of the possibilities. She looks around
excitedly....
...and realizes that she is still speaking to an empty
space, a grey room full of nothing. She winces slightly.
"...'kay. I've said pretty much all I'm gonna. If...
if anybody wants to come play with me, I'll be over
there."
* Lina gestures, and the grey falls
away into an idyllic scene of spring. Dark blue, bright
orange, light yellow, and pale pink wildflowers are
thickly scattered across a small green hill. Flute in
hand, she walks lightly up the hill, kneels carefully
amidst the flowers at the very top, and begins to play.
An airy tune wafts across the meadow. |

Auron shoulders his sword and looks
around, scanning for danger.
The woods are quiet, except for a clear piping sound like
a far off stream tickling the senses.
"Watch out for pixie dust. Strange things could
happen."
He warns.
****he he he...this may be Auron's only contribution, or
he might wander on and off the scene from time to time.
Who knows.

*Mandy opens the door and steps
outside. People gasp at how different she looks.
Only a few moments ago, she had long auburn hair and was
clad in tight-fitting sci-fi garb. Now her hair is
back to blonde and she looks classic...almost
old-fashioned.
I think it's a great idea. I've just gotten a new
avatar since my boomspeed account just got disabled
because I was storing pictures on it, not for ebay
auctions. Whoops! And I couldn't locate the
picture anywhere on my harddrive and didn't feel like
getting into Photoshop again from the original.
*Mandy runs toward Lina, a few golden tendrils escaping
the loose combs she wore in her hair. Before she
reaches the girl, however, she trips and falls.

Rosa appears in a swirl of rose
petals and leopard-patterned lycra
Hey, this looks like fun, although...
waves sadly to Golden Sunset
there's no way I can ride a chocobo in this outfit!
spots Mandy sitting on the ground and goes over to help
her up
Let's find out who's playing that flute... |

* Lina winds
down the long, simple, and aimless tune she'd been playing
as she watches the two young women approach from one side
of the hill. Her eyes crinkle in the flutist's smile as
she notices that they're both being nice to the flowers.
She catches up the last note of her song and holds it,
letting it fade as her breath slowly gives out.
Rosa and Mandy pause briefly as Lina meets their eyes with
a clear gaze.
I should welcome them.
http://www.geocities.com/kiala42/BirdSong.mp3
* Lina smiles happily at the
expressions on the two women's faces. She places her
flute in the deep pocket of her left sleeve and begins to
walk down the hill. Within three steps, the bright
prospects of the new day have overcome her, and she skips
a little. Unfortunately, she's forgotten that her little
kimono is still stiff, and she stumbles on the downhill
with a cry. |

A black cat enters the scene.
Superstitious people find this time the right one to gasp.
After a few moments, she mewed and cleared her throat,
causing her to hack a hairball.
"... Izzat the way to do it? Never been doin' this
before..."
The cat known as Jinx walks and sits at one corner, yawns,
and finds the right position for a nice siesta. She purrs
contentedly.
Jinx might wake up sometime...

Walking among the woods and then
stopping upon the sound of the flute is "Sugarmanx"
who ventures forth with his chocobo "Alfador" in
the magical guise of a hooded rogue and a horse
Wark...?!

A large, yet beautiful, floating eye
pokes from behind a cloud to overSEE the situation below,
hearing several people tripping and rolling down hills and
what not. She, it, whatever, zooms in on a petit
purple figure wearing a stiff kimono laying at the bottom
of the hill, out cold, with possible broken limbs and
abrasions. The flute she had been playing prior
hidden in the grass some yards away from her unconscious
body.
The Great Large Goddess Eye LOOKS around to see if there
is anyone nearby to help the poor broken creature.
All the Eye SEES is 2 pretty girls, one absent-mindedly
petting a cat, and a dangerous-LOOKing flaming redhead
rogue sitting on a chocobo.
Your foolish disguise cannot fool a goddess...
especially not when it is optically enhanced beyond just
pure physical tricks...
and is 5 feet in diameter...
and is hovering high above you and can see everyone from
all angles...
The Eye floats down to the broken flutest, flautest,
whatever, hoping to catch someone's attention that she
needs help. |

Mandy looks up and gasps in fright
as she sees a huge eyeball. But it's not the eyeball
that's frightened her, but the thought of it hovering so
closely to a copse of trees. The memories of her
mother always telling her, "You'll poke your eye
out" wade through her mind.
She sees that the pretty purple haired girl is laying on
her back, unconscious. She runs down the hill and
stops.
I don't have a phoenix pinion!
Desparately, she looks around and spots the closest thing
to a phoenix...Alfador. Cautiously, she approaches
the chocobo, hoping that it won't notice if she tries to
pluck one feather... |

The disguise drops as the voice
looms in the sky and just as Sugarmanx tends Alfador's
wounded leg he notices a gigantic eyeball floating in the
sky as it heads down towards the hills.
"The invincible ? No, that's not it..."
"Wark ?!"*it replied in a curious tone* With its
feathers on end, his head turns in the direction of a
person that seems to be quite curious as she approaches...
I hope that you aren't another poacher.

Kaiser Kevain O'Gloomy *WAS* quietly
sitting by himself, minding his own business, reading a
story in the calm detached serenity of the woods. Hearing
a commotion, a brouhahah, AND a hullabaloo, he angrily
slapped his book shut, realizing he forgot to re-insert
his bookmark at the new proper page...
YEAAAAARGGHHHH! Now I'm really steamed!
Resolving that those who caused all the noise are to blame
for his own mistake, Kaiser Kevain O'Gloomy angrily
stormed out of the woods at a brisk pace.
What in the name of The Almighty Eye In The Sky is going
on here! Some of us are trying to read!!!
He looks up and noticed the aforementioned Eye in the Sky
is actually present, and perhaps causing the commotion. He
looks up and waves sheepishly.
Urm...Hi?

"...Oww..."
Lina sits up slowly, left-handedly rubbing the small lump
on her head.
Must've hit a rock or something.
She blinks a few times, shakes her head, and suddenly
notices the absence of a familiar weight in her left
sleeve. Eyes widening, she checks inside. She pales, and
looks around frantically. Finding nothing, she quickly
stands and wobbles slightly from dizziness.
"Oh, no, I can't have lost it!"
Lina looks around. One of the women she noticed earlier is
calmly stroking a sleepy-looking black cat some distance
away, while the other seems to be nearby, talking with a
red-haired man who's preoccupied with bandaging his
chocobo's leg. Further to her left, a bespectacled and
sandy-haired man is looking abashedly up at
Woow, is that a giant EYE?
Lina shakes her head a bit, remembering her immediate
plight. She takes another quick look around, and decides
on the pair nearest her. Taking small steps and being
careful not to trip, she runs over to the nice-looking
blonde lady, the red-haired man, and the injured Chocobo.
She carefully wipes her hand on her kimono sleeve before
reaching out to tug on the lady's skirt, getting her
attention.
"Excuse me! I'm, um, I'm really sorry to bother you,
but I lost my flute and can't find it and it's short and
silver and really really important and...!"
* Lina runs out of words,
alternating between looking supplicatingly at the lady in
front of her and frantically at the ground around her. |

Just as Sugarmanx continues to
bandage his chocobo's leg, he realizes that the woman he
suddenly sees is not a poacher.
Further off in a distance was the shouting of some angry
individual. He turns around and now notices another person
in a kimono with a worried look on her face tuggin at the
young lady's skirt.
Wark ?!
I haven't seen a flute either Alfador.
(scratches head...poor girl) his thoughts were adrift
thinking of that tune earlier. |

Flying, no lazily gliding along the
winds. AD looks on. Unaware he has been altered
physically. Once his eye caught sight of his wing, he
stopped altogether.
"Bwah?!"
He swivled his head in every direction seeing he
completely shrunk and in some places changed color,
forgetting the now obvious problem that arose.
"What in the..."
A sudden quack alarmed him that he stopped his travel.
Looking up to the duck that made the sound, AD Noticed its
wings were moving, unlike his...Unlike his?
"Crud..."
He fell like a stone. Past the Floating eye... Floating
eye??? The ground was coming up fast, the tree even
faster and he was going to land head first too.
"AHHHHH!!! TREE!"
He pointed with his mouth completely open.
The crash was so loudddd... He landed right next to the
tree. With going through about 5-10 branches. That's when
he noticed his wings again.
"Groan! I forgot I could fly."
AD contently inside his little crater fillled with those
branches, watched the swirling stars go around his head.
He spat out something metal without notice. Looked like
some flute. |

A white tiger whom we shall dub with
the name "Stripes" crawls out of the forest and
observes the grey-blue dragon who's siliva still remains
present on the musical inturment.
Curious with the thin object, the cat grabs it with his
right paw, where moments later it becomes stuck.
"Ick! Dragon Siliva! Gross!" the feline
exclaimes at it quickly waves it's paw back and forth
trying to get the flute off, but to no avail.
He spots a beautiful girl frantically looking around for
something, along with a few others. One stroking a cat
clad in lepoard-print clothes, one starring up at a giant
eye, which now has put on a pair of shades, and yet...he
feels the presence of others who have yet to yield to his
own appearnce.
Looking back at the leopard-clad female, he becomes
enrapture with her and starts to stalk towards her
"Hmm...she could be a female feline...this shall be
fun!"
The flute lingering in his mouth, he creaks forward
slowly... |

as Rosa strokes the black cat, she
becomes aware of the ground shaking under the weight of
something heavy moving towards her. turning round
she comes face to face with...
a TIGER!
Now that's what I call a kitty!
she tickles the tiger under the chin and it begins to purr
Oooh, you're such a beautiful pussycat, aren't you?
suddenly, she notices something odd about the tiger's paw
Hey! What's that? It looks like a flute.
How did that get stuck to your poor paw?
Stripes holds out his paw, as Rosa tugs at the flute.
as she finally removes it, she wrinkles her nose in
disgust.
Ugh! It's covered in dragon saliva!! No wonder
it's so sticky. You and I need a good bath, kitty! |

Sugarmanx now wears the symbol you
see on his cloak...Just as Sugarmanx and Alfador notice a
walking tiger approach our location, Alfador took several
steps to the side and was ready to high-tail it out of the
scene just as a precaution
I don't blame you buddy. *pats*
Thankfully enough, the tiger proceeded to walk towards a
female (pretty one at that) in a leopard lycra.
Seems like everything's o.k. now, eh buddy ?
Wark !
The sky suddenly which was an eye, now wearing a pair of
transitional shades still hovers in the sky as a witness
of the present events.

lately) |

Aquila raised the visor on his
helmet to look across the clearing in the valley.
All around him was woods, except this one clearing.
He turned around to return to his waiting vehicle, so that
he could veture down into the clearing. Aquila
looked down at the side of his motorcycle. On one
side was his twin short swords, both baring his insignia;
an eagle flying past a lightning bolt. On the other
side was a extendable metal staff. Before he mounted
the cycle, Aquila lowered his visor.
Hmm... time to see what's going on down there.
Aquila rode down into the clearing only to see the sight
of three young women, a man, an eye with sunglasses, a
chocobo, a black cat, a dragon that looked as if he fell,
and...
A
tiger!?!?!?!?
The tiger did not threaten, so Aquila did not remove his
swords, but did take his staff. However, even that
was not for the case of fighting. He just didn't
feel right without it. Aquila did feel a sense of
peace in this clearing. It was the land he had
searched for. A land far from the battle fields. |

The adjusted dragon known as AD was
still in a slight daze. Stars starting to dance away from
around his undamaged head. Wow that's alot of A's and D's.
"She always did tell me to land before noticing
things..." Lumbering out the hole he created. AD
found out just how much he did change. Using those around
on the ground as a judge with him he found out his height
was about even as the tallest human there.
"I've been midgeted!" he exclaimed.
He knew he was different than other dragons. Him and his
twin always were. But... Grabbing the reduced tail in his
claws, he sat down. Looking at the green grass. This
bothered him greatly.
Sniff...
Snifff....
Sniffff....
And in the end the once majestic dragon couldn't take it
anymore.

Tears fell from his eyes off the sides of his maw.
Becoming continuous and harder with each passing moment.
He completely forgot what happens when his emotions show.
The sunny sky quickly changed into a cloudy mess. Then
rain began to fall. At first a slight rain, then to a
steady, heavy downpour.
He didn't notice it at all. He just kept on crying. The
rain following suit and became even heavier... He forgot
about the rest who were here. At this rate no telling how
bad it could get.
(Ooh...just realized this is not a good time to have
fur...) |
