ACT XIV, SCENE 1
-
High Tower Castle - Reflection - 9 p.m.
**After a fitting meal for the warriors of virtue, a loud
annoyance starts to rock High Tower Castle from its interior.
It's clear by the heavy booming sound that the figure is large, but
it's unclear if the trespassers' intentions are good or evil.**
***
~Enter Ari, Tygar, Kaede, Csilla, Trillean, Cain, Sirona and
Elder Tassidus.~
~Enter a Large Man.~
Large Man
: *Heavy footsteps come echoing through the corridor.*
Large Man : *A cold man enters, his features carved into one expression. His lips are a straight thin line, and his white blonde hair is braided down his back. He towers above them all, and his aged face is in a grimace*
Ari: *she glances up at the man who has just entered the room.* And who might you be? *she readies her weaponry*
Large Man
: *He turns around slowly to face her, his features hiding the
disgust at her elven features* I am the man who gave you five
thousand men…
Csilla: *Csilla looks the man over* How the hell are people
getting through the cloud? This has never happened before…
Large Man: It appears your barrier has weakened overtime. It
appears some outside force is tempering with it and using it to their
advantages…
Tygar: That might explain why High Tower was attacked
yesterday with no warning. With a barrier, why would you need
guards…that can be the only explanation…
Kaede: Well said Tygar, although it surprises me that the
security around here has been slack as of late. High Tower’s
invisibility crisis shouldn’t come as any surprise to those that have
felt the power of our nemesis…
Csilla: *the prominent mage approaches the man and extends her
hand in greeting* I am Csilla Iboyla, Marshal of High Tower. And you
are?
Large Man:
*the creature saluts her* I am called, Faolun.
**From this point on, the Large Man shall henceforth be
known as Faolun.**
Ari:
*Staring the man in the face, unafraid of his scorn, especially with
Tygar at her side.*
Csilla: Greetings Sir Faolun. High Tower and it’s mages
welcome you, I am only sorry that our company may not be well-suited
to your liking, we just recovered from a recent attack from the dark
forces…
Faolun: *He nods his head* Greetings, and it is no trouble. A shelter is a shelter.
Kaede:
*he comes upon the room where the newcomer arrives, and nods* So,
that's him...he's a strong one...
Sirona: *raising a brow* it appears that way doesn't it
Sirona: *shakes her head softly* What a strange day...
Csilla: You must be Trillean's father.
Faolun: That I am.
Faolun:
Or was, you might say…
Csilla: *she frowns* Indeed.
Faolun: Tell me High Mage, I would like to know, but what
happened back there… it looked like something that I haven't seen in
a very long time.
Tassidus:
*he comes up from behind, and nods* The Mages of High Tower seem to
have their ways Faolun.
Faolun: *He turns around to face Tassidus* I know they have their
ways, one of them sent a telepathic message to my eldest daughter.
Ari:
*she shakes her head, seeing Trillean’s father in this man. She turns
to her and whispers into her ear* You'll always be her father.
Trillean: I’d rather not talk about that right now…
Kaede: *walking slowly up to Faolun, he nods his own support*
We are duly grateful for your support...
Faolun: *He shakes his head* Listen, I have no time for this
sentimental talk. Just inform of what happened. Short and simple is
the way I like it.
Csilla: It would appear Nelo doesn't want the Mages joining
this battle of yours, nor does he want you to live.
Csilla: He sent his undead soldiers here to kill you and all
of us, but we purged them and they are no more… Although
reinforcements are probably on their way here now even as we speak…
Faolun: *He turns his head quickly* Why would that little runaway sorcerer want me dead? There’s no reason for it…
Tassidus: *he raises an eyebrow* Indeed?
Faolun: I only previously decided to add my force.
Kaede:
*he steps in* Nelo has his ways, sire, he knows things.
Faolun: *He backs away and leans against the wall* As do we
all, boy.
Tassidus:
Did you know of the assassin's that were on your trail?
Faolun: Yes I did, but I didn't think they could penetrate
here.
Csilla: Only because he has his father's damn book!
Tassidus: We just disposed of them...Nelo Angelo must be getting the news right now and I’ll bet he’s furious
Tygar:
*he speaks up* Our numbers are gaining... We may now stand a chance
again the Dark Lord...
Csilla: And if we could get into his room~
Kaede: *he nods* Which reminds me...
Ari:
*prodding Tygar.* I think I'm going to go to the kitchen. I need
something to drink, badly.
Tygar: *he watches as she starts to walk away* Wait… I’ll come
with you...a promise is a promise. *he smiles*
Ari: *she smiles and reaches out her hand*
Tygar:
*he takes her hand as they walk together towards the kitchen*
**Coming inward from the entranceway, the mage Frode,
accompanied by
Kaleo and Kali have come for a quick bite to eat. His
eyes gazed over, Frode, not having seen the Purge for so long,
still looks shocked from seeing it.**
Kaede: *he clears his throat, trying to not sound anymore desperate than he already is* Frode...I need the key....
Kaede:
Everyday, my Aunt grows weaker...and would you leave Csilla
motherless?
Frode: *he coughs* The key?
Kaede:
*nodding* Unless by chance there's some other way to get in…?
Frode: No, you need the key... But I do not have it.
Kali: *turning to her brother, her eyes narrow*
Kaede:
*disgusted, he shakes his head* We need that key...but before I enter
Dante's room...I must take care of some...business…
Sirona: *she sighs* I’m coming with you, no way I’m letting
you bleed in High Tower again!
Kaede: *he nods* Very well. For everyone else, I shall be at
my father’s shrine…
~Exit Kaede and Sirona.~
**It becomes clear after her cousin and fellow mage leave, that
Csilla simply loses it. Her tone clearly states how upset she is
at Frode.**
Csilla: How could you lose it?!
Frode: *he stands motionless, the others look on in
nervousness*
Csilla: Fine, you want to give me the silent treatment… Then
screw you! *she stomps out of the dining room and down the hallway
out of sight*
Kaleo: *he gazes up at the elder* Sir, why did you make Csilla
mad?
Frode: *he knees down to the apprentice and speaks silently*
Someday Kaleo, you’ll understand. There are times when the truth
isn’t meant to be told…this is one of those times…
Frode: *he coughs* Well then, if you all are enjoying your
meal, I am going to turn in for the night. Kali, Kaleo, don’t stay up
too late…got it?
Kali: *she nods* I don’t need to hear that at my age, Sir.
Kaleo: *his eyes roll* Same for me…
Frode: *he approaches Csilla closely, speaking for her ears
only* There is a deeper wound here, Csilla... If you go into that
room...you'll know why Nelo Angelo is doing what he is doing...and
more.
Frode:
I cannot allow it…
Frode: *his mind preoccupied, he simply ignores the others and
exits whistling a tune…*
~Exit Frode.~
Ari: *she sinks into a chair.*
Tygar:
*he sits down across from her*
Ari: * she sighs raggedly.* I don't know that my nerves can
take much more of this...
Tygar:
*he nods* We've come this far, and you are thinking about giving up
now? *his sips his wine*
Ari: *she shakes her head* No. I just... I don't know, it’s
just that, you really terrified me today, you know?
Tygar: How did I terrify you? My rage again?
Tygar:
*he chuckles* Strike four...right?
Ari: Well it was more afterwards... When you pushed me away...
Tygar: *he stands up* It was hard...you should have seen it
from my point of view... I was going through so many options and just
couldn’t decide on one…
Ari: *nods* I know. I don't think I could have pushed you away. Not really, even if I had to. That’s the way I think at least…
Tygar: I blame myself for not going with you...but...I don't want to keep you like some prisoner...I want you to be free too... Although I realize now that I sounded like some fool who had you chained with no where to go… I can’t express in words how sorry I am Ari…
Ari: But, I am free with you. This afternoon was a mistake. I'm not used to that kind of... attention. I didn't think that he wanted...*shudders slightly*
Tygar:
*he sighs* It wasn't your fault...I've experienced that which you did
today...but never had I seen it done to my love...I guess...I kind of
over-reacted...*he puts his hand on her shoulders*
Ari: *she places her hand over his.* Just a little. But I
forgive you, I really do.
Tygar: *he finishes his wine quickly* I'll leave you alone for
awhile...it will help settle your thoughts...
Ari: *she nods allowing him to realease his grip on her*
Tygar:
*he gets up and stretches* I have one request though…
Ari: *she blinks* Hmm?
Tygar: *he smiles* ...Meet me...tonight...by the ballroom...at
midnight…
Ari: *she nods without wondering any truth behind the invitation* Alright. What are you going to do in the meantime?
Tygar: Do what any other feline would do...take a nap...*he chuckles as he blows her a kiss and exits the kitchen*
Ari: *she smiles, shaking her head and sipping the remnants of her drink *
Ari: *sighing, she stands and walks about, shaking out her tired, sore muscles.*
Jove:
*he sniffs the key curiously*
Jove: *As his nose touches the key an electric shock zaps him
in surprise.*
Jove: HELL! *the oisin yelps, leaping back*
Jove: *Jove snarls at the key, his wings fluttering angrily*
Ooh, so you wanna play THAT way, huh?
Jove: We'll see how brave your arse is when I get you to Frode!
He'll melt your sorry excuse for a key and make a pin!
**As Jove passes by the Great Shrine of High Tower,
it is Trillean who approaches from the other side. Her vision
is cloudy with tears as she stumbles upon the shrine. With a name
engraved upon the doorway, she begins to trail the engravings with
her fingertips. Suddenly, she hears a sound creeping from behind her
and she quickly hides in the shadows. From the very doorway that she
had entered, it is Kaede that is approaching . He is clearly a
mess of emotions as he sighs, walking through the halls and into the
shrine garden. He walks calm into his father's memorial temple,
kneeling down in front of it.**
Kaede: *he shakes his head, bringing his face to his hands as
tears roll down his cheeks...*
Trillean: *She hides in her corner, watching Kaede with
interest*
Kaede: *his own shoulders shudder, as his mind feels as if it will cave in at any moment…*
Kaede: *he beats a fist on the floor in disgust* Oh father… what would you do? I am a step behind at every turn...
Trillean:
*She moves out of the corner, getting up cautiously. Slowly she makes
her way across the marble floor.*
Kaede: *he shakes his head* I do not know...do I honestly
deserve this? Am I worthy of this task? Or of having these
friends...?
Kaede:
*the man shakes his head* I am so...weak...so pitiful…
Trillean: *She turns her head around and continuing to walk
she bumps into a table spilling some sticks of incense and the
holder. It clatters onto the floor and she hunches her shoulders on
the impact*
Kaede: *he startles slightly, turning to see Trillean in full view*
Trillean: Dammit… *she hisses at her clumsiness*
Kaede:
*his eyes wide, he doesn't bother to clear the tears away that
continue to fall. He swallows* Hello Trillean....
Kaede: *he speaks* Are you...all right?
Trillean:
*She lets out a sigh* Yes. I am fine.
Trillean: *she turns, cursing herself* Well, I…I've got to get
going Kaede. See you… *she begins to walk away*
Kaede: *he jumps at her sudden desire to depart* W-Wait...
Trillean: *She turns around, but than lowers her head* Yes?
Kaede: *he draws closer to her, and smiles* Why are you always in such a rush? What is your hurry?
Kaede: *he raises her chin with his hand, and looks into her eyes* What is it you are hiding?
Trillean: *She turns her head away and laughs nervously, using her hands to push him away.* Nothing… I just made a mistake today, a very grave one at that…
Kaede:
*he blinks, not backing away* What mistake?
Trillean: *She places a hand on his ribs* An arrow. Or have
you already forgotten?
Kaede: *he winces at the memory* That was nothing... I’ve
experienced a close bond with death since my date of birth, I am used
to it.
Trillean: *she snorts* Oh yes, I had clearly forgotten…but if
you consider this event to be any different, then you truly have no
heart…
Kaede: You didn't mean it...besides...
Kaede: *he brings a hand to his chest* It's the arrow that you
shot through here that I feel...
Trillean: *She laughs cynically spinning away from him holding her arms out to her side* And by that, what do you mean?
Kaede:
*he again looks into her eyes, squeezing her hands* You've moved a
part of me, kindled something I'd locked away forever...
Trillean: *She lifts her head haughtily refusing to admit to
her own feelings* What part? The part that died with Arshes? And that
part of me died with that elf that I took long ago, so we are even...
Still, you know it was something I had to do...
Kaede:
*he shakes his head* Trillean, I will not take from you that which
you will not give...
Kaede: But as for me, I give you myself, heart and soul, to
take however you will…
Trillean:
*She puts her hands through her hair gripping it. She nearly tears it
out.* I don't deny that I feel for you, after all I have seen you
through that which would be impossible.
Kaede: *the wanderer shakes his head* The impossible is
simple… That is my task... The task being this…
Kaede: *he brings his hands to her face, lightly brushing
through her hair...*
Trillean: *She loosens her grip and steps forward towards him* I don't...understand...
Kaede: I want to know what's in here...I want to calm the storms that rage in here...
Kaede: *he draws his lips close to hers, and, for a moment, time ceases to exist...*
Trillean: *She lifts her chin towards his, and everything seems right for that one moment… But sadly for just that moment*
Kaede:
*he feels pure bliss, all is right within the world...
Trillean: *The empty footsteps resound through out the place,
and an angry curse rings out. Stopping everything.*
Kaede: *he backs away, startled, and turns...*
***
Kali:
*the mage turns towards Tassidus and flashes a seductive smile* Well
hello there…
Kali: I'm Lady Kali. Who, might I ask, are you?
Tassidus:
*he raises an eyebrow* Hello young one… I am the Elf Elder, Tassidus…
Kali: *the younger mage laughs* I'm half your age, Elf Elder.
Kali: I suppose you can call that...young.
Kaleo: *he observes the conversation from not so far away and begins to cringe at the conversation developing* Yuck! *the mage quickly trots away, sparing his ears from being forced to listen to anymore from the pair. He hated it when his Teacher flirted!*
Tassidus:
*he laughs* Ah yes...well, it's not the age, it's the experience, I
suppose...
Kali: *she smiles at the Elder* That it is Elder…
Tassidus: *he nods to Kali* So, how long have you been a Mage at this Tower?
Kali: *she chuckles as she counts her fingers, then decides it’s not even worth using that method* Dare I say, all my life?
Tassidus:
*he runs a hand through his hair* I've been doing this for far too
long...
Kali: I was born with a tap in the Stream of Magic.
Tassidus: *he nods* impressive...
Tassidus:
So, I don't suppose you can bring knowledge to the foolhardy? I've
been having problems with idiots surrounding me...*he grins at her*
Kali: *she smiles* Which idiots might you be referring to my
Elder?
Kali: Hopefully, you don't mean our Csilla. *she bears her
teeth teasingly* Because if you do....I'll have to hurt you…
Tassidus: *he raises his hands* Please...after what she did? I wouldn't even look at her angrily anymore...
Kali:
*she laughs…her laughter is like bells to Tassidus' ears.*
Kali: So, what is it I can do for you, Sir?
Tassidus:
*he grins* You can start by accepting my invitation for a drink. This
place brings uneasiness to me and we may have more…privacy…elsewhere.
It's refreshing to actually talk to an experienced person for a
change.
Kali: *she nods, smiling fully* I would love to join you, Sir.
Tassidus: *he walks towards the kitchen* Ale sounds very good
about now...
Kali: *the mage walks next to him, her deep green eyes fixed
on his as they walk*
Kali: I'll follow you anywhere, Sir.
Tassidus:
*he grins yet again, not having felt this excited about something in
a long time* Thank you, but I am pleased with simple company for the
present...
Tassidus: So, what is it you do when you aren't wielding the
power of the gods?
Kali: Training the next generation. Kali turns to look at Kaleo and a few other apprentices looking over the damaged High Tower.
Tassidus: *he walks into the kitchen, nodding to Ari, and proceeds to pick a large bottle of ale, bringing also two glasses*
Tassidus:
*he nods* Aye...it is a heavy task...
Kali:
*She sits down and uses her magic to pull out a chair for Tassidus.
**From behind, a familiar half elf appears as she lets out a yawn.
Her mind is still thinking to herself about the day’s events.
She looks at Kali and Tassidus and gives a wink to each
of them as she prepares to depart to her room for the night.**
Ari: *looking from Kali to Tassidus
and back again, she sighs* Goodnight you two. I hear a bed calling
for me.
Tassidus: Farewell Ari, may the night ease you into a peaceful slumber of pleasant dreams…
Kali: Sleep well, Child. Tomorrow is a new day.
Ari: *she nods and leaves. She wanders the halls for a short period of time before ending up in her own room. She lies on the bed and tries to sleep.*
Tassidus: *he pours Kali a drink* So, do you ever rest? You look wide awake at this hour, although after what happened hours ago, I can see how sleep could be tough tonight… But even Ari is trying…
Kali: Rest? What is rest? *she laughs*
Tassidus:
I think sleep is a sickness...'I was sick with sleep, but I am better
now' *he grins in mischief*
Kali: No, I do get a few moments to myself. They are
rare...but very welcome when they arrive…
Kali: Sleep isn't a sickness, Elder Tassidus, it is an escape,
an escape into a foreign world filled with different views from the
real world. Much of it remains a mystery and not even the books can
touch the foundation of dreams…
Kali:
The mind can only see so much while it is awake. When you sleep you
see the other portions of existences your mind refuses to see while
awake.
Tassidus: *he nods* This is true...and what do you see in YOUR dreams Kali?
Kali:
*the mage sips her drink and says* I see a group of young people,
thrown together by fate and doing impossible things together. That is
what I see…
Tassidus: *he nods again* The impossible becomes possible with
the right company...
Kali: I see these youths grow up and become great leaders,
honorable men and women...and I see a man by my side to walk with me
to the end of my days.
Tassidus:
…Yet it all passes you by, like a dream, friends live and friends
die, but you remain...
Kali: Being able to live for many years, for centuries...it
can get lonely.
Kali: I have trained 250 boys and girls...seen them grow up
and become Mages, some stayed here while others left.
Kali: I trained their children and their children's children...I knew Kaede's father and mother, I knew Csilla's father when he was a boy...
Tassidus:
*he sobers, remaining silent* You knew Eriane?
Kali: *she nods sadly* Yes, I did…
Kali: She was so beautiful, so kind and loving.
Kali: There were times when Kaede would visit... I’d see her
traits in him. He admired her so very much.
Tassidus:
*he leans back in his chair, not saying anything for a brief moment
before images go through his head, his mouth reluctantly speaks as he
is slightly absentminded. Eriane was beautiful...
Kali: *the mage looks at Tassidus and smiles softly* She
was...in body and in mind. A very unique individual.
Kali:
Especially when he fused at Csilla for climbing that damned tree!
*she chuckles at the event that seemed not so long ago*
Tassidus: *he remains silent* I am sure...
Kali: You must have loved her dearly. *she sighs sadly* Pity,
really.
Tassidus:
*he nod sadly, a frown appearing on his lips* Aye...that I did...she
was my best friend...she was my sister...
Kali: *she continues* A pity that such a strong bond between
siblings...cannot be carried over to their children.
Kali: *she turns away slightly* I had a brother and a sister
in my family.
Tassidus:
Oh? *he moves over to her*
Kali: When my sister had her first son, a half-breed like
Kaede, my brother, who had loved her so DEARLY...turned the child
away when his mother died.
Tassidus:
*he raises an eyebrow* What?! And nothing was done about it?
Kali: *the mage shakes her head* Regardless, we raised him
here. and taught him to be the best mage he could be...
Kali:
He married one of the female mages and they had a son.
Tassidus: *he nods* And who, pray-tell, who was this?
Kali:
My nephew whom I now call my brother...he is Frode...and his son is
Kaleo.
Tassidus: *his eyes widen as he is surprised yet sees some of
the pieces coming together surrounding the mysterious of Frode* That
explains it… *he then suddenly goes back to his own memory of Kaede
and how he turned him away from his camp when he had come to seek
help, he shakes his head* We all make mistakes… Some, more harsh than
others, but in the end, the deck is played out with the hand that is
given. Life is a game.
Kali: Perhaps, but even games can be taken seriously.
Tassidus: *he grins* You've seen as much of the world as I
have...haven't you?
Kali: *she smiles gently* I have seen much and learned much.
Tassidus:
*he sighs* Aye...but life's lessons are harsh...and I've seen so many
lifetimes...
Kali: I have learned that love is blind and rage is a fool. I
have learned that family is more than a bloodline and that beauty is
only skin deep.
Tassidus: Remarkable words of wisdom you tell Young Mage…a
whole person could be with you for all your days and still learn
something from you. No doubt that you are a gifted mage.
Kali: *she blushes* Thank you…your acceptance means a great
deal to me…
Tassidus: *he hands Kali a small bottle of drink, distilled
from the Western Heights from his pouch* You've not had Elvish ale
for quite some time I wager…
Kali: Not since I left home to train here
Tassidus: *he laughs* What’s the matter? Can’t take the
punishment? Have some!
Kali:
*she becomes slightly hot-tempered* High Tower’s tavern doesn’t even
compare to that bottle alone, not everyone needs a strong drink to
satisfy their thirst…
Tassidus: *he nods* I was raised on this stuff, and even after
nearly a thousand years of it’s existence, the flavor still tastes as
it did when it was first bottled…
Tassidus: *he holds out the small bottle to her* Please, feel
free to it, it brings pleasant memories, but clouds not the mind...
Kali: *she nods, taking the bottom from the Elder and sipping
it* Oh my…is it good… Just like when I was a young women… *after a
second drink, her eyes become slightly hazy and she attempts to force
herself to try and hold back an incoming yawn. The booze starts to
slowly tear at her mind, but causing no permanent harm*
Tassidus:
*he looks up at Kali* Well, perhaps some clouds come anyhow, but I
swear they do not storm the mind. My dear, you look like you may need
to hit the sheets early tonight… Please, get some rest...you'll need
it...
Kali: *she reveals a sly grin* No one should sleep alone, my
dear Tassidus…
Kali: *the half drunken brushes her hair back to reveal her
pointed ears*
Tassidus: *he forces a slight maroon to reveal in his cheeks* Is that an invitation?
Kali:
*she grins* That is however you wish it to sound…
Tassidus: You know, if we make it through this, it would be an
interesting tale to tell to children and others of the future
generation.
Tassidus: *he laughs* I can't imagine what my students would
think..
Kali: *she laughs at his words* A wondrous tale with lessons
galore!
Kali: Well… *suddenly the young mage shifts so she is looking
Tassidus square in the eyes*
Tassidus: *he smirks* Indeed, thought I wager they'd only pay attention to the battles…
Kali:
Some will call you a fool, others will say you are wise. Some will
can you a coward and others will think you are brave.
Kali: But...there will be a few, and they will be the best
students you will ever have, who will see you for who you really
are...and they will not scorn or praise you too much.
Tassidus:
*he shrugs* If I tried to please everyone, I wouldn't have gotten
very far milady…
Tassidus: it's nice to have someone understand that for a
change...
Kali:
*she once again smiles gently at Tassidus, her mind feeling at peace
as she listens inattentively to his words*
Tassidus: *he leans back in his chair* Why couldn't I have met
you ages ago? I could have used a smart and reliable mind to guide me
when this all began...
Tassidus: *he chortles* I suppose it's fate, but I’ve learned
now to not really put Fate as the reason every time…
Kali: A wise, reliable Elf would have told you to forget the human mages and relay only on elven strength...and that would have destroyed you long ago.
Tassidus:
*he heave a sigh* I've never claimed to be wise, fate makes kings of
fools, and fools of kings...
Kali: If you had a wise and reliable mind aiding you…you would
never have come here, my dear Tassidus…
Kali: A fool is just a wise man who speaks when others are
silent.
Kali: A fool speaks the truth when silence is the perverted
path.
Tassidus: *he smiles at her* I've had my share of silence Kali, I've lost my savor for it....
Tassidus: Care to share a fool's company Kali?
Kali:
*the mage beams* For how long?
Tassidus: *he sighs forlornly* For as long as we have time…
Kali: *the mage grins at him, letting a little flirt come into
her words* Then you'll be stuck with me till I die, Tassidus...’till
I die.
Tassidus: *his eyes broaden at her words, he replies casually* I'll be around...it'll be nice to have someone with me along the way...
Tassidus:
*he grins* You won't get rid of me easily either, I need more advice
from a good fool…
Kali: *the female grins, and leans forwards...brushing her
lips against the older elf's cheek*
Tassidus:
*his eyes widen, and he looks at her with a mix of emotions in his
eyes...*
Kali: *she narrows her eyes, her eyelashes becoming the center
of attention* Sounds like a plan good Sir…
Tassidus: *he nods standing up as he stretches his legs a bit*
Good night Kali....
Kali: *the mage leans back in her chair, staggered by what the
Elder just said, she looks at him in question* Good night?
Kali: *she stands* Do you wish me to leave, Tassidus?
Tassidus:
*he grins recalling the kiss* Well, perhaps not…
Kali: *she frowns, her eyes a little annoyed* Well, I'll keep
my lips to my self, then.
Kali: *the oppressor settles back in her chair and closes her
eyes*
Tassidus:
*he shakes his head clearing regretting his previous actions, he
tries to soothe the savage lioness*I don't get to partake in them
even for just a little bit?
Kali: *the mage opens her eyes and grins, slightly fascinated
by the Elder’s sudden change of heart* Depends…
Tassidus: *he grins* I swear, I haven’t seen the last of
them…and I will not move until they come back to me…
Kali: *she smiles* Ah yes, I sense that they are on a voyage home… *she kisses him again*
Tassidus: *his lips release and he returns the kiss, parting again* Welcome home...
Kali: *she blushes, awestruck as she replies the same* Welcome home...
*Enter details later here.*
Faolun: *Fangs overlap onto his lips, and talons clutch his sword. He is on the breaking point as he overlooks the two.*
Kaede: *He clears his throat, walking up to the dwarf king...*
Kaede:
*he raises his arms wide, walking forward slowly…*
Trillean: *She merely stares at her father in despair, and
bows her head.*
Faolun: *He holds his sword out directing it at his throat* Do not try me half-breed!
Kaede: *He shakes his head rapidly* Nay sire...I wish to confess...
Faolun: Confess what? What! I need no confession!
Kaede: I.... care for your daughter...in a way I never thought I would care for anyone again...
Kaede: Please, do not condemn her for my transgressions...
Faolun:
You would seek my daughter! What matter of imprudence is this?
Kaede:
*He shrugs* Not without her permission sire...
Faolun: I thought she would have learned… But I see she’s as bleak as ever!
Faolun:
*He spits at Kaede’s feet* I should kill you… Yes, that is beginning
to sound like a fine idea right now…
Kaede: *he wipes the spit away* You know, you and my uncle
would make nice friends... And now what about that pact we signed
back in the caverns? Doesn’t that mean anything to you?
Faolun: That was a pact between the elfs and dwarfs, however,
this quarrel is my business only!
Kaede: Do you not realize that it is my business and well as your daughters! She has as much a right in this as…
Faolun: Silence half-wit! I grow tired of your petty excuses. When are you someday going to be a man and burn for all that you’ve done?
Kaede: *He shakes his head again* Sire, we've been through Hell and back, there is no fault with her actions. I’ve already tastes the stale coals of Hell and I’m not able to return there for a long time!
Faolun: No fault! No fault! There is a fault for every action! And for this, there must be punishment, even if it means the stale tomb of death!
Faolun: *He steps forward baring his fangs* There is never any fault with elves! That is what you always say!
Kaede: *He flashes a grin, revealing his fangs* But you see my Lord, I am not entirely an elf...
Kaede: Moreover, I have no idea what I am anymore...
Kaede:
Man, beast, or elf... Take your pick.
Kaede: The only thing I am not is dead!
Faolun: *He steps back looking revolted at the fangs* How the hell did you get those?
Kaede: *He shrugs* I needed to...cast a spell...
Kaede: These were the side effects...
Faolun: A spell! Hahaha, no spell has those side effects, unless we give our blood.
Faolun: *He looks horror stricken at her, he rushes forward baring his teeth. He takes her chin in his hand forcing her to look up at him* You would defile yourself …your honor… your family… your own PEOPLE!
Kaede: *His eyes flash* SIRE!!! Do not condemn her... in making the sacrifice...she saved us all with her marvelous powers! A powerful and noble bloodline, and you would disgrace your own kin?
Trillean: *She does not back away merely reluctantly meeting his gaze.* It needed to be done for the greater good. That is what you taught me and our generation! That sacrifice doesn’t come without a cost, but that’s a cost we are willing to make, if it will please others!
Faolun: I did not teach you without honor. You are a whore. You are a disgrace!
Kaede:
Please...if you must have your pound of flesh... *he draws a knife,
slitting a small cut along his wrist* Then who better to take it from
than me!
Trillean: *She holds back tears.* Call me what you like, but
it does not change what happened. *she turns to Kaede* Don’t spill
your blood for his sake! It will only entice him!
Kaede: Do not defile your daughter's name, do not taint that which was honorable...
Faolun: *he looks back at him with a sneer* You do not even know her real name do you halfing? All along, you have know her by her false name, ‘Trillean’! *he spits at the ground when he is forced to say his daughter’s artificial name*
Kaede: *He gesticulates, tapping his chest* I know her shattered past, her noble bloodline, her fear of bringing death. Yes, I know all about her, more than you could ever know! And that, Sire, that is all that matters…
Faolun: You know her not! Deceitful lexis! And do not attempt to know her!
Trillean:
*She turns her face away as he releases his grip.* I am sorry that I
have disgraced the family father. I am sorry for everything!
Kaede: *He shakes his head* You have nothing to fear form me,
I only seek to honor and cherish her, she has been a blessing to
us...and to me!
Faolun: *he turns away for a second,
mumbling in a low tone* Orlaith sul Foalun, is the true name that you
were born as. A princess of your people. *he hastily turns back
around* Now what are you? Trillean the bard, a whore who sleeps where
she likes!! Where is the honor in that?!
Kaede: *He shakes his head* No! She has not dishonored
anyone, she has not sold her body, and she has not acted
capriciously!
Kaede: Come Changeling King! Vent your anger on me, but not her on your own people!
Trillean:
*she growls under her breath and forces herself to speak in bravery*
I am no whore, Father! I am your daughter, you’re very blood flows in
my veins! *she suddenly turns into a lower, prouder voice* I am
Kayra's daughter…*she says quietly*
Faolun:
*He snarls at his daughter walking over to her before he sends her to
the ground* That’s for mentioning HER name! If you do have any sense
behind those words, you will never forget them, ever! *he turns to
Kaede, holding his rapier to his throat* You want this? You scream so
madly at me that you truly desire to perish?!
Kaede: *He remains still, wheezing underneath the weight that
the large figure has over him* if that… If that is in Orlaith's best
interest. She will honored those words...
Faolun: *He stands behind Kaede preparing to rip the blade across his neck.* Never mention your mother's name. You defile it by speaking it boy!
Kaede: *He shakes his head, grinning* Sire...I never had the luxury of knowing my parents… unlike so many others…
Kaede: They died when I was young, protecting me from the erupting chains of darkness…
Faolun:
*he turns over to his daughter and grins intensely* Perhaps I should
seek retribution for what you have done by slicing open his throat,
then, and only then, would you remember to never cross me again!
Trillean: Father stop this bullshit at once! It is not his
fault. I did this of my own free will!
Kaede: So, what's your excuse for not being there for her sire? More important matters at hand? Come on, I’m sure she’d love to hear it.
Faolun: You are pressing your luck rogue! Never say I wasn't there for her! I raised her when her mother died, I taught her the ways of a blade. I loved her above the others. To have her turn against me to the people of her mother's killers is unjustifiable!
Kaede:
*He hacks* Just so sire, then why do you push her away now? Why when
she is clearly coming to you for help!
Kaede: if anything, she should be more precious to you than
ever before!
Faolun: Why does your uncle push you away? Perhaps you can answer that question and we’ll have a similar answer to share upon for a change…
Kaede: *He forces a laugh under the tip of the knife, a thin layer of skin flakes away revealing a light pink incise* Why did he leave me? Why? Oh that's a good one...
Faolun: You do everything of your own freewill that is what makes it so dishonorable.
Kaede:
*he sobers* Hahaha. He never left me, because he never cared for me
sire, and why should he? My birth brought doom upon both my
parents...and the entire elf race! You know what happened, I’m sure
the fear echoes in your mind for the safety of you people. Why is it
your kind hides away in the tunnels? The source of all that fear
comes back to me…yes, me…
Faolun: Aye, that it did. Halflings
are not accepted. We should have never signed that treaty…
Kaede: *he pretends to ignore him* I never had a chance to know them...but I know that if I had...I would honor them as much as I do now...
Kaede: I love them, as she does you...and their struggles were my pain... As yours is hers…
Faolun:
That is why this union is such a wreck. Do you think I want my
daughter to be scorned all her life by strangers, for who she is
with?
Faolun: Three elven hunters took my
wife's life, I would not see another take my daughter's.
Kaede: *He grins* Think you so little of her now? Eh?
Faolun:
*He takes his blade away from his throat with disgust* I thought the
world of her, you do not understand how it is to have someone whom
you put all of your life into to turn away in the most insulting
moment…
Kaede: *He shakes his head, rubbing his neck as it burns, the
air of High Tower quickly attracting to it* Yes I do...
Kaede: Long ago...but it was false...because I didn't think...
Faolun: Well I am thinking. I do what is best for myself, for my kingdom.
Kaede: You don't feel it now Sire, but, when it's gone, you will lament what you once had...what you have now...
Trillean:
Speak not for me Kaede. I’m dare not waste a breath more on this
pathetic old lunatic…
Trillean: He turned his back on me. I turn my back on him.
That is the way it has been for nearly twenty years. Curses at each
other’s throats, tearing each others limbs apart, it’s a never-ending
cycle…
Kaede:
*His eyes widen in sadness* Please…don't...
Faolun: Please don't what? Don’t turn
our backs on each other? It is too late. I give you my men only
because your mother's soul requested it. But you are no longer my
daughter and you no longer need me…
Trillean: *she remains silent, shocked at what she just heard*
Faolun: I leave in the morning to return to my people.
Farewell…
Faolun:
*He set his jaw and turns away. His head held high and his shoulders
straight leaving them standing in the temple*
Kaede: *he curses* Forgive me Trillean, excuse a fool for his
transgressions…
Kaede:
*he shakes his head as his words fall on deaf ears...*
Faolun: *He walks out silently*
Kaede: *His arms fall to his sides uselessly* I am the world's
greatest bringer of pain...
Trillean: Do not blame just yourself. He is stubborn in his ways. And… He will not leave in the morning.
Kaede: *He turns to her* And you?Kaede: *he grins* What would you say to me? A person who has yet again driven you from your father...
Trillean: *she shakes her head and smiles for a moment* I chose my own path. He will never forgive me for this, but life goes on, with or without his support.
Trillean: I have you, and I have the world to save with people I hold dear. It is enough for me.
Kaede: *He nods, running his hands through her hair* Yes, you always have me...
Trillean:
*She forces a smile, and watches as her father's shadow gets farther
and farther.*
Kaede: *He shakes his head* How are you so sure he won’t be
gone by the dawn of the morning?
Trillean:
*she laughs* Let’s just say I cut his horse loose, so he has no way
to get home, unless he would walk it…
Kaede: *he laughs* Clever as always I see you sly vixen…no
wonder I’m attracted to you…
A shrill whistle echoes
through the shrine. Jove appears.
Jove: Aww, now THAT is great!
Kaede: *He turns around and smiles at the familiar friend* Oh, it’s only you Jove. What are you doing here old friend?
Trillean:
*She sucks in a breath, and turns around* The horse with a mouth? Ah,
his presence alone is a danger to us all, haha…
Jove: *he snorts* Ah, bugger off, will ya? Still, I have to
admit, that what you did to your OWN father, Trillean, that’s just
rich…
Trillean: You were listening the whole time?
Jove: Uh...not the WHOLE time.... Just shortly after you and
Kaede kissed.
Jove: *he jolts up near Kaede’s ear*By the way, NICE ONE!
Kaede:
*He stays silent but a blush appears in his cheeks*
Jove: *the oison winks at
Kaede, while at the same time, a glow of light from the chandelier
catches on something in his mouth*

ACT XIV, SCENE 3 -
High Tower Castle - The Royal Ballet - 12 a.m.
**The clock strikes midnight as a series of twelve chimes ring
throughout High Tower signaling the end of the old day and
welcoming the start of the new day. An undisturbed cycle for
thousands of years, but for how much longer the answer remains one of
life’s mysteries. Tygar five minutes after jolts up from his
bed as he looks outside at the red moon, it’s position slightly
north, northeast from being centered. He realizes the current time of
day and panics remembering a promise he had kept for Ari. **
**Flipping out of his bed, the feline prince opens his dresser
drawers and pulls out some exceptionally glamorous fabrics. The
shimmering colors produce a heavenly shine as the light bounces off
the fine cloth forming a halo of light. He nods with approval as he
steps outside his room and heads up to meet Ari, who is
already on her way to the ballroom**
Tygar: *he walks out of his room looking left and right before
exiting, he makes his way towards the ballroom*
Ari: *she is the first to arrive as she waits outside the locked door, tapping her foot, she hears silence as she groans* Where is he....?
Tygar: *he pretends to walk past the ballroom stairway, then swiftly comes back into view and looks up seeing Ari* I'd...forgotten where the ballroom was...else I'd been here sooner milady...
Ari: *she raises an eyebrow.* Don't make excuses, just get up here.
Tygar: *shrugging, he does a triple back-flip up the stairs* I am here...
Ari: *she grins at his liveliness, but quickly turns serious* Now, what are we doing here in the middle of the night, in such fancy attire even? This is not really like you at all… Are you trying to hide the fact that you’ve done something wrong? Well, Tygar?**Having entered the dark ballroom. Prince Tygar releases a single fire dart claw from his launcher towards a single unlit candle above his head. As the candle is quickly lit, the dart quickly begins to lit all the candles in the room, one after another, in a complete three-hundred sixty degree circle. Slowly, the candles force the room to be revealed in all its splendor...*
Ari: *she gasps as the room is lit and a red rose-colored carpet lies before herself and Tygar. There is a curtain too where behind some of High Tower’s finest musicians await the command to play. She smiles in disbelief at the exquisiteness* Ever the romantic, Tygar…. *she smiles up at him*
Tygar:
I'm a romantic at heart...you know...
Tygar: *he snaps his fingers as a romantic melody begins to
play from the stage...*
Tygar: *he smiles* I asked Csilla if some of her mages were up
for a little melody playing. I had no idea she had an orchestra that
was known across the land. So, tonight, they play…only for the two of
us…
Ari: *she laughs, her laughter musical* What is this all about? Why all the fancy touches all of a sudden?
Tygar:
*he bows in front of her* I simply wish to spend this moment together
with you…
Ari: *she curtsies and holds out her hand*
Tygar: Ari...would you do me the honor of joining me in this
dance? *his costume glitters in the candlelight*
Ari: *There is a smile of utter rapture on her face.* You
always knew how to push my buttons. I’d love to.
Tygar: *he beams leading her into a slow waltz*
Ari: *She can do nothing but dance and smile. She feels secure
in his arms*
Tygar: Bet you didn't think Tigers could dance eh? *he smiles
as he takes her into a small dip*
Ari:
*she laughs again, her laughter more genuine than any other time in
her life*
Tygar: *he glides her hands along his as they step together
outward, one foot in front of the other*
Tygar:
*he smiles* You're pretty good yourself... Are you sure you haven’t
done this before?
Ari: *she laughs even more* I only do well if I have a good
partner to lead me around.
Tygar: *he smiles* Always glad to lend my moves to another…
Tygar: *he chuckles as he gazes into her lovely eyes* And you
just so happen to be with one of the best...
Tygar:
*he takes her into a spin*
Ari: *she lets the swirling motion lift her hair as she closes
her eyes feeling the love transcend her thoughts. She almost
completely loses all traces of thinking, her movements a bit too
relaxes as she starts to wobble slightly*
Tygar: *he catches her as she starts to fall* You appear to be
enjoying yourself a bit too much here, but that’s not a problem
whatsoever…
Ari:
*she opens her eyes and laughs. She takes hold of his waists to stop
him from moving further and then looking into his deep green eyes,
she whispers* Tygar, thank you so much for...
Tygar: *he puts his finger to her lips* For what...I didn't do
anything...
Ari: *she continues, blushing slightly* For this beautiful
evening, for... for... loving me. And showing me what love is.
Tygar: *he smiles as he
takes her hand again, feeling like a proud warrior at heart* The
pleasure is all mine...you deserve it for all you’ve had to endure in
your life.
Tygar: *he lifts her up over his head gracefully letting her
fall gently behind his back*
Ari:
*she squeals in delight as she is astonished by his moves* I don’t
know what my life would be like without you… You’ve brought so much
more meaning to it than anything else…
Tygar: *he spins away as he shoots a bolt claw into the air
hushing the candlelit flames as they are replaced by streaming dance
light that guild the pair across the dance room floor*
Ari: *floating along with him, her heart as light as air*
Tygar: *he smiles* Besides...this may be the last time we are able to have fun...we might as well enjoy it...
Ari: *At his words, she stops him and puts her arms around his neck, burying her head in his chest.*
Tygar:
*he begins to purr happily as he leans down to kiss her deeply* I’ll
fight for our love Ari. It’s one of the few things that keep me going
on this quest. And for you, I’d gladly die for you to live…
Ari: *she looks up at him, smiling gently as she kisses him
back* And I’ll fight for you too Tygar, I’ll not let a single arrow
pierce you when our love is the greatest protection this world as
ever seen…
**The two begins to dance again. The melody and lights seem to
guide their paths across the dance floor in harmony. With each step,
the burning love they share grows stronger and a renewing trust
begins to form between the two lovers. It is truly a rare sight
indeed.**
Tygar: *catches a stifle yawn from her mouth* Ah...it is getting late...I think it is time for you to be getting your beauty sleep milady...
Ari: *she nods* But only if you come with me. I don't want to sleep alone here. *she wince outwardly innocently*
Tygar:
*he picks up and begins to carry her in his arms* I'll take you
there...
Ari: *she leaps out of his arms and smiles* I can walk
myself…although… *she takes his hand and begins to lead him in the
direction of her room* I’ll show you the way, if you promise to be
good…
Tygar: *he laughs* Aw, you are no fun *he smiles trailing
along her footsteps*
Ari:
*she smiles seductively.* That's what you think now…
Tygar: *his eyes go wide as he blushes* What evil deeds are
you planning tonight...
Ari: *leading Tygar towards her room, she walks past the
archway and begins to close the door, teasing the cat, before she
peeps her head out and smiles* You'll have to come in to find out...
Tygar: *he growls playfully as he steps into her room. Just as
he was admiring the walls, his ears rise at the sound of a click, he
turns around*
Ari: *she grins wickedly as she locks the door and hides the
key in her drawers*
Ari: *she grins* That’s right, uh oh… *she playfully rolls her
finger around a strap of her dress as it slides off her shoulders*
Tygar: *he meows* Something tells me that we won’t be getting
much sleep tonight…
***
Kaede:
*he shakes his head* Jove...you have a death wish...
Jove: Huh? Oh, this thing. *the oison trots over and spits the
black key into Kaede’s open hand* Found it in the grass beneath
Frode's window.
Kaede:
*he cringes at the oison salvia, but quickly his eyes widen as he
looks at the object* Oh my lord...this isn't what I think it is, is
it?
Jove: Pretty weird looking key, don't you think?
Kaede:
*he grins at the causal remark from the four legged creature and then
gives him a bear hug!* Jove, YOU GENUIS!!! You have saved us all!!
Jove: *his eyes widen in surprise* Uh…Thanks, I guess?
Kaede: *he lets him go, and claps him on the back* Summon Csilla, we have work to do soon...
Trillean: *She
