We
Shall Not Forget
by Nick Maddix 9-11-02 @ 8:42 p.m.

It was a day like every other day, and then it all
changed in a flash
A fireball scorched from the blue sky and stuck the heart of America
It struck every single person on the land of the free
And not everyone would escape alive
It was a scene from a movie, but reality set in hard
As the smoke bellowed out of the towers
Panic struck into the hearts of the people
A day in September where we were forever changed
We were thought to be invincible, like a god
But even the mightiest will fall
We might want to give up or we might want to quit
Life is precious, and while we were down, we did not stay down
We got back up
Millions of people donated their time, their lives,
and their spirits
To help those who couldn't see the light
In the mists of the darkness, freedom rang
The eagle stood proud, the colors of the flag waved
The stars and stripes, ours rights and liberties
We the people of the United States of America, shall not forget
Nor will we ever be the same
We carry the dream of peace, and we will not stand down until it is reached
We live on, stronger and better than before
Do your part and help out each other
You have one life, make the most of it
Give your loved ones a hug so they too know they are alive
Because you never know when all of that will be taken away
Like it did on September 11th, 2001
A year later, we carry on the wishes and memories of
those we lost
We may be afraid, but we are not alone, and it's okay to be scared
A little goes a long way and you might not realize it until the end
I'm proud to be an American, to be part of the free and the brave
Life goes on, the past remains the same, look forward to a new day
Where hopes and dreams extend to the farthest distances
We shall never forget our loss
They will live in our hearts forever like an endless candle in the moonlight
God Bless America
And the red, white and blue
Love,
Nick
